It is not a new thing for a country to change her name. Some countries had done it before. With the way many young Nigerians already refer to Nigeria as Naija and for the fact that the name Nigeria was given by a white man, isn't it time for us to have an African name? Some have argued that the name Nigeria was taken from the words Nigger area which has some form of racial remarks to it. Would it be good for Nigeria to change her name?

No, I don't think so. The problem of Nigeria is not the name, but bad attitudes of Nigerians. Most Nigerians are so greedy and self centred, most are extremely corrupt, most are enemies of peaceful coexistence. Today, our government suffers misadministration, our offices suffer misappropriation and diversification of public funds; making Nigeria one of the most corrupt country in Africa. If thuggery, sentimentalism, religious crisis, tribalism and political unrest are eliminated in Nigeria, peace 'll reign and our fatherland 'll be a better place to be, rather than mere change of the name. Moreover, Nigeria is made up of over 250 ethnic groups. If the name is to be changed, many tribes will like the new name to be in their native language and that will create another problem. Please let the name be as it is, Thank you.

Changing of name or not, is it what is holding us? The descendants should first change from their covetious and selfish life before talking of changing its name. We, that are animate object should first change before refering to the inanimate object that doesn't breath, thanks.
