Why does PDP keep winning elections in Bayelsa state despite the fact that the APC is in power now in Abuja?

It's because Bayelsa has always been a PDP state and home state of Nigeria's former President Goodluck Jonathan who became the first Ijaw man to become President of Nigeria. PDP has always controlled the oil producing states in Nigeria and it is the only party that has helped enrich states in the Niger Delta through the 13% oil derivation benefits. Any party that can give Bayelsa or the oil producing states a much higher derivation benefit from their oil can win them from the PDP but that remains unlikely in the long term.

It's because they don't want Hausa party controlling their oil and lifestyle. No sharia and boko haram in the Niger Delta.
